Robertshaw Electric Gas Thermostats (EGT) were designed for use in conventional ovens in combination with the ignition system. Their compact design fits even in confined areas. Each of these EGT series thermostats is a highly reliable temperature control with a long operating life. This switch uses a patented push-to-turn function to activate the range valve or close the switch contacts. Turning on the thermostat activates the silicon carbide ignitor bar. When this block reaches the correct temperature, it opens the gas valve and ignites the gas. Shaft rotation is counter-clockwise to increase temperature and there is a detent on the frame to provide a positive OFF. Standard capillary length is 36 inches, secured to the frame by strain relief. These thermostats are ambient compensated to 200°F body temperature. The standard calibration reference point is 350°F. The switch rating is 5 Amps for 120V AC systems only.
